4- How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
There were several different media
technologies used in our music video all of them serving a different purpose to
research, create and analyse the media piece.
The first and one of the most vital use
of media technology is our media blog on blogger.com.
This blogs purpose was to inform our viewers of the progress of our group’s
media piece.
The blog allows us to post text and
images of our current research and construction into the music video. The blog
is easy to use and allowed use to create new posts and publish online.
Another way off of informing our
audience is through the use of social media. Previously our group has used
twitter to post updates. This year we decided to use Facebook as it is better designed to share video and music.
For research we used the internet. We
looked into the home pages of other artists to compare and gain ideas for our
website. We watched other music videos on YouTube
to create a foundation of codes and conventions to follow.
For the construction of our website we
used weebly.com. This interactive
website allowed us to create our own site that we can add videos, images and
text to.
To design our Digipak we used Adobe Fireworks, this software allowed
us to create identical canvases to insert images and text to form our Digipak.
For the construction of our music video,
Adobe software were used to edit and design different areas. This was useful
because the advantage of adobe programmes is they work best together.
For our image editing we used Adobe Fireworks. Using this programme
we were able to merge image together and edit colours and shapes of the image.
Our group created a music label logo “Hollow House”. This image was created in
Fireworks and saved in a group folder to be used in the music video.
To edit the music and other sounds in a
format that would be able to copy onto the video, we used Adobe Soundbooth. This software allowed us to crop the music files
from YouTube and also cut out areas of the music. This was appropriate to cut
out and sensor our music video so that all inappropriate words were discarded.
To edit, create and finally construct
the music vide the software we used was Adobe
Premiere Pro. This software was most important to our music video creation.
This programme allowed use to use all the clips that had been filmed on the
camera and upload them from a saved file onto one area. Then we can order,
transform and apply transitions to the shots to form our music video. To
finish, the software allows us to export the edited video into a format that
can be played via windows media player and uploaded on YouTube.
For evaluating our media piece we used a
different technology. Prezzi was
used to make a step by step interactive map. This presented our information of
one evaluation point in a more entertaining manor.
For the overall filming of our music
video we used a basic level camera
with a tripod for stability. The camera allowed us to capture the action of the
music video and any extra sounds. The camera store the shots on a memory card
that was then used to upload our shots onto a saved area for editing.

Editing Software
The group and I are in the process of editing, this print screen shows our video on the software (Adobe Premiere Pro). The software which I have just stated is an editing software which allows you to do editing to your video.

Website Construction
The group and I are currently in the process of creating our webpage, at this moment in time we have been able to upload the song in which we are using, edit the tabs which link on to different pages and insert our company logo in the top let hand corner.
Due to the group not completing our final music video yet we are unable to insert that onto our webpage. Another thing which we yet cannot insert is the proper background to our website, we haven't currently created a background which will flow through all of our webpages. As a replacement for this time we will be using the Werrington Red Bridge.

Digipak
A digipak is an opening book style CD case.
A digipak generally contains:
A front cover that is easily recognisable by the artists fans, the cover will identify the artist/band and the title of the album, along with portraying an image to relate to either the artist/band or album title.
An inside index. the index will give a list of the songs on the CD(s) in order of play.
A back cover this back cover will have an image similar to the front cover. The back cover will contain a bar code for purchase reasons, the company or companies the artist/band are in association with and any copyright information.
An inside cover that contains the CD holder A stereotypical digipak uses lots of images and different bold text to make the digipak exciting and eye-catching for the fans to buy.
The digipak will have consistency of colours and themes throughout each side to make the house style iconic and recognisable to others.

Conventions Of A Hip Hop Music Video
Drake-Started from the bottom music video fits into the genre of a hip hop video.
For filming our version of the song we will use these conventions of hip hop music into our video.
Conventions
A common shot used throughout the videos is a low-angled close up shot of the artist.
This shot is used to symbolise the "power" of the main artist. We considered using this shot, however have gone against the normal convention of hip hop music, this is because we will not be showing the singing in the video, and will focus on telling the story of the lyrics. However we will use the same shot to show our protagonist later on. Another common convention of Hip hop videos is to show the characters in a club/ at a party.
This shot is used to show the characters having a good time, and to make the viewers envy there lifestyle, especially when considering the target audience Being younger people, Teenagers often enjoy going out and partying to have a good time. We will use this shot in our video, to show the protagonist having fun, and to show the development of the story. Common hip hop music videos show the artist or main character displaying strength and masculinity, along with competition and a sporting interest. This can be shown through camera shots or mise-en-scene using props and costumes.

Common hip hop music videos show the artist or main character displaying strength and masculinity, along with competition and a sporting interest. This can be shown through camera shots or mise-en-scene using props and costumes.
This use of semiotics shows the characters dominance over other characters. We have chosen to follow this convention and will show the main character as a competitive person.
Expensive items are constantly on display in a hip hop music video.
The imagery of expensive props and costume shows the success of the character. We shall go with this convention in our music video, however the expense of many expensive items could be a problem, therefore we shall not use the mass of expensive items in comparison to other music videos. In hip hop videos there is normally a relation between the lyrics and the images seen in the video, this is important to our group because our music video will be telling a story, using the lyrics of the song. There is normally a reference to the main character/Artist looking at themselves (Voyeurism). We shall include this convention in our music video, showing the progression of the protagonist. intersexuality, the use of linking between other videos is a convention we shall go against, that is because we want our video to be different to other music videos. WE have chosen to follow some conventions, making it clear to our target audience of the genre of our music video, however because we want our video to tell a story, and be unique to other videos, we shall go against some conventions.

The Benefits Of A Digipak
How does a digipak benefit the artist?
The front cover has images showing some aspects of the genre there are portraying, this will be distinguished by fans of that genre and may be interesting to the fans of other artists in that genre. The digipak will easily embody a message attempted to be presented in the songs and the song lyrics. this follows Goodwin's theory and creates a link between the lyrics and visuals. The images on the front and back covers will emphasize a brand image connected to the artist, making the image iconic and recognisable to the artist giving popularity of them. A digipak is usual contains 2 CDs allowing for more songs to be released in one album. overall the digipak is used to distinguish the artist and their ideas. along with catching the eyes of buyers and fans whilst releasing as many songs as the artist can.
